FAQs

APPROVAL

Can I try Clarinets on Approval?
I will send you several instruments to try for a two week approval. That period begins when I ship the clarinets to you. I ask only that you only have the instrument(s) postmarked back to me 14 days after the invoice date. You are responsible for the instruments while they are in your possession. When returning those you do not wish to keep be sure to insure them.

If you purchase an instrument from me there is of course nothing additional to pay except the price of the instrument and the shipping and insurance charges. You are responsible for shipping both ways. If you do not purchase an instrument however, you will be charged a $10.00 trial fee per instrument plus the original shipping and insurance charges. If you paid by credit card you will also incur Visa/MasterCard's fee of 3% for the return of your money. All refunds are made by check to avoid incurring visa/master cards 3% processing fee. All refunds are also made within 5 days of the return of the product you do not wish to purchase unless other arrangements to shop additional instruments to you have been made in advance.

If you absolutely need more then 14 days to try the clarinets, which might occur if you geographically live farther away, please call before your trial has expired to discuss the return date of what you do not wish to keep.

Out of respect for other customers as well as for the preservation of new instruments remaining new, please understand that Lisa's Clarinet Shop cannot accept under any circumstances any instruments returned after 30 days.

How many Clarinets Can I try on Approval?
Every clarinet I select is one that is worthy to be tried. I only choose the best instruments to sell. Most people tell me they have trouble choosing between the 2 or 3 clarinets I send to them.

PAYMENT

How much of a deposit do I need to try clarinets?
Since most of my customers only are looking to buy one clarinet at a time, I ask for a full deposit on one instrument plus shipping and insurance for however many I send.

What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept Visa, MasterCard, checks, money orders, wire transfers, school purchase orders, and, when appropriate, instruments on trade that I choose.

STUDIO TRIALS

Can I come to Lisa's Clarinet Shop and try instruments?
Lisa's Clarinet Shop always welcomes those who would like to schedule an appointment to buy an instrument in person. As of January 1, 2007, Lisa's Clarinet Shop will officially open "The Studio" which will be open and available for clarinet and barrel trial appointments. As an added benefit, Lisa will also be available to guide and assist you as needed during that appointment time. So if you live in the Chicago area or are just passing through, email or call and arrangements that suit your schedule can be made.

Is it an Advantage to Try Instruments out at Lisa's Clarinet Shop or have them mailed on approval?
Actually it is probably more of an advantage to have instruments mailed. The reason I say this is because you have the ability to try these instruments in your own environment, concert hall, and for peers, teachers and others who would be interested in listening. Having instruments to try in your own unique playing situation is an excellent way to be confident of your decision.

However if you are able to come to Lisa's Clarinet Shop Studio to try instruments, you are still able to take the instruments you select with you an approval to be tried.

If you elect to take what you choose on approval, there is a $10.00 non refundable fee that will be charged if you do not make a purchase.

The reason this fee is charged is because each time an order is prepared, only a small number of individual instruments are adjusted to meet the needs of that specific customer. When a customer comes to try instruments at Lisa's Clarinet Shop Studio, EVERY instrument must be adjusted to allow that customer to try all the fine instruments we have. Obviously there is a significant difference in expense occurred to accommodate the needs of our customer and we are happy to do it as long as an instrument is purchased.
